Why is my son hovering his lead foot in his baseball swing and being late?
Hovering the lead foot (keeping it off the ground too long) is the same as reading and reacting—it's slow because the hitter is guessing and waiting instead of attacking. Teach them to use the lead foot to gauge the arrival of the fastball: the front foot "finds" the arrival of the pitch (lands timed to the fastball speed). This shifts from passive reading/guessing to aggressive attacking—better timing, quicker decisions, and stronger contact on every pitch.
